Question

‏The questioner says: Is it from the sunnah to raise the hands while the Khateeb (Friday sermon-giver) is making dua during the Khutbah (sermon) or is that specific to the dua for rain or is it enough to just say “Aameen”?

Sheikh Saleh Al-Luhaydan
‏Rather saying “Aameen” is enough. The one who listens to the khutbah on the day of Jumuah (Friday) does not move at all and they do not touch dirt nor stones nor anything else. ‏They are silent. However if the imam makes dua, it is acceptable for the listener to ‏say “Aameen” but without making movements. Some people busy themselves ‏with the miswaak, using it while the imam is speaking. Others ‏look at their watch and fix it and set it. ‏Others busy themselves with (different) things, as much as they are preoccupied is as much as they miss out on the deeds that bring about their righteousness. And Allah’s help is sought.
