Is it Permissible for a Muslim to Abandon His Brother Over a Disagreement in Jarh (criticism) of Some Shuyukh?

Question

May Allah aid you, is it permissible for a Muslim to desert his Muslim brother and not greet him because he did not agree with him in making Jarh (criticizing) of some sheikhs?

What a bad thing he did. This person’s action is bad. The issue of making Jarh (criticizing) a sheikh, two or more sheikhs: If you agree with the Jarh, you are his friend. If you disagreed with him, you are not his friend. This talk is of the fitan (trials / tribulations), and of the affliction that befell some people who preoccupied themselves with this. They occupied themselves (with this) rather than ilm (Islamic knowledge). They occupied themselves with eating people's flesh (i.e., backbiting) and filling their stomachs with the meat of the unaware.
