Shaykh Al Albani
Sheikh: Wherever you go, if you were to ask a person whom you don't know: "What is your Madh-hab?" What would he say to you? Hanafi, Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali, Shi'i, Zaidi, etc..
Okay Why are you eager upon the name of “Salaf”? And this affiliation, that I believe is not permissible for any muslim to dissociate from this affiliation.
That is because dissociation from this affiliation, is a part of opposing Allah and the Messenger which is mentioned in the Noble Qur'an.
And it is the Saying of Allah the Exalted (the meaning of which is)
{ And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ) after the right path has been shown clearly to him, and follows other than the believers' way. We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell - what an evil destination. } [Surah An-Nisā: 115]
