Sheikh Ibn Al-Uthaymeen
In the Name of Allah, Al-Rahman (the Merciful), Al-Raheem (the Mercy-Giving). Narrated by Abu Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ said: "When Ramadan begins, the gates of Jannah are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained." These are three things that happen in Ramadan. The gates of Paradise are opened, as a motivation for those who are actively seeking it, by increasing their acts of worship; performing salah (prayer), charity, dhikr (remembrance), reading the Quran, and other acts of worship, the gates of Hell are closed because of the small number of the sins of the believers, and the devils are chained, meaning the transgressing ones, as it came in another narration. The transgressing devils, meaning those who are most in enmity and aggression towards the children of Adam. Chained, means their hands are chained, so they can’t fulfill what they used to fulfill during other times. And all of this that the Prophet ﷺ has informed of is the truth. He said it as an advice to the Ummah and as a motivation for them to perform righteous deeds.
