Allah is the Greatest in reality and in meaning; for Allah is Greater than everything in His Knowledge, Ability, Hearing, Seeing, Power (over all things), and so on.
Greater than everything, and He, the Exalted, Himself is Greater than everything because the seven heavens and the seven earths, in the Hand of Ar-Rahman (the Most Merciful) are as what? As a mustard seed in a person’s hand.
And because Allah the Almighty says: “They made not a just estimate of Allah such as is due to Him. And on the Day of Resurrection the whole of the earth will be grasped by His Hand and the heavens will be rolled up in His Right Hand. Glorified be He, and High be He above all that they associate as partners with Him!” [Az-Zumar: 67]
And He the Almighty says: “And (remember) the Day when We shall roll up the heaven like a scroll rolled up for books. As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. (It is) a promise binding upon Us. Truly, We shall do it.” [Al-Anbiya: 104]
So, Allah is greater than everything in His Names and Attributes, as well as Himself. Also, nobody can make a just estimate of Him. If Ibn ‘Abbas says about Allah's 'Arsh (throne): "Nobody can make a just estimate of it except Allah”, then what about the Creator of the 'Arsh?!
Okay, so when you say Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest), you have to feel that He is Greater than everything in His knowledge, Ability, Power, Wisdom, management of all affairs, and other things. Also, He Himself, the Exalted, is greater than everything.
